The 357 km Sena line connects the Port of Beira, via Dondo, to Malawi and has 11 stations. It also has the Inhamitanga-Marromeu branch (88 km) and the Dona Ana-Moatize section (254 km).

The Sena Line forms the backbone of the country's central region and the Zambezi Valley in particular. It is along this line that coal from Moatize is transported by mining companies operating in that region of the country.
